If I’m being frank with myself, I have a tendency to go into a small state of what is a combination of depression and anxiety, with a hint if a burnout. College has become soul-crushing, and I’m reaching that part of the semester where I just want it to be over so I can enjoy worrying about something else. Bleak, isn’t it?
With that being said, I thoroughly enjoy writing sex toy reviews because they allow me to explore my creative side that isn’t too structured and has been known to disobey as many grammar and punctuation laws possible. I was thinking about what I was going to write about next, and that process usually involves me picking an item or something that I have thoroughly tested and sparks the creativity within me, which then motivates me to write about it. The Sincerely Unity Vibe from Sportsheets is one of those items but not for a good reason. I’ll expand on that more on that later.
Design and Materials
The Sincerely Unity Vibe from Sportsheets is a small, 3-button operated vibe made of silicone, is waterproof, rechargeable, and has 5 speeds/intensities. Additionally it comes with a velvet storage bag and comes in three colors: Black, Pink, and Purple. I have it in the color Purple. You know, like the movie.
In Use
When I first got the Unity Vibe, I looked at it and thought, “Ah, another bullet for my #ClitBae series.” After further research, however, I found that Sportsheets never categorized the vibe as a bullet even though its looks can say otherwise. The shape of the Unity Vibe is pretty unique for two reasons. It’s not very often that you see uniquely shaped vibes on the market that are this slim and light. I don’t really know what I would describe the shape as, but I will say that it is very reminiscent of a small block eraser with double rounded ends. The silicone is also something to talk about as it feels nice and smooth in hand and for the most part, is practically seamless.
I usually go on about other details, but since this vibe is pretty straight forward, I’m going to dive right into the vibrations before talking about ease of use with operating it. There are 5 vibration speeds/intensities on this vibe, and I cannot orgasm from any of them. I usually give charity to buzzy vibrations because they have a special place in my heart when they are strong or in combination with rumbly vibrations. As a person who finds themselves with a preference for their vibrations to be on the stronger end of the spectrum, I wasn’t only disappointed but the vibrations. I underwhelmed by them. Having said that, I realized that my disappointment wasn’t without surprise.
The sleek and compact design doesn’t come without its caveat. That being in the vibration department. Small motors, specifically ones in slim vibrators, typically produce buzzy vibrations. It’s very reminiscent of a vibe from Lovehoney that I hated, but at least this one is stronger and better designed. With that being said, I find myself using it as a starter vibe to build arousal before moving on to a more powerful vibrator. I also use it as a post vibe after I orgasm when I still want to keep the action going, but don’t something that’s too strong to avoid over-stimulating myself.
The 3-button operation is also pleasant, as the buttons are pronounced and are nicely sized with a great deal of haptic feedback. Despite their efforts, however, the only think about the buttons that I would complain about is that there isn’t really a way to distinguish one button from another by mere touch. I wish the buttons stuck out more rather than inward, as it would be easier to tell them apart. What I usually do to remedy that simply remember the order of the buttons when I’m holding it during use. That way, I can easily access buttons and avoid pressing the wrong one unintentionally.
I can’t help but see its potential in other scenarios that either wouldn’t require a stronger vibe and a need for a vibe that’s small enough to fit in the back of your pocket. For example, because it’s so small and doesn’t necessarily look like a vibrator, it’s easy to travel with and can be hidden in plain sight as it almost looks like a presentation remote one would use to advance slides with. I also find that when introducing my penis-owning friends to the sensation of vibration during foreplay, many of them don’t care for crazy strong vibrations as they can be too intense for those who have never experienced them. I also like this vibe for newbies who either have never owned a sex toy before or want to upgrade to something of higher quality material and feel from a battery-operated vibe. I personally started out using battery-operated sex toys, and when it was time to upgrade, I started shopping around for sex toys that were similar to the toys I already had, but where rechargeable because I wanted to stop having to choose between being able to control my TV or having an orgasm. I almost always kept forgetting to buy batteries when I went to the store.
Some of you are probably wondering why I would recommend a sex toy I personally didn’t like. Let me explain. Some time ago there was a considerable debate in the sex blogger industry when a couple of bloggers were essentially shitting on a vibrator that was very popular when it first made its debut on the market, but the feedback turned out to be negative due to the weak and lack-luster vibrations and lack of practicality when it came to its design. Many thought it was useless and overpriced, so some bloggers told their readers that it wasn’t worth their money, even telling some not to buy it. To which the founder of the company responded by writing a piece in some newspaper, essentially trying to undermine the importance of sex bloggers and their reviews.
I specifically remember in the piece, that the founder discouraged against bloggers telling their readers not to buy a product just because they didn’t personally like it. And while I could agree with the founder, I think this only applies to sex toys that lack practicality in regards to their design, toys whose vibrations are almost non-existent, and toys that have been reported to cause injury to the user on a widespread level that has nothing to do with user error. For the most part- well all the part, we reviewers and sex bloggers always tell you why you should avoid purchasing an item.
We don’t just go around telling you not to buy things just cause. In the case of the Sincerely Unity Vibe, I think it can be useful to someone- too many people who aren’t looking for super-strong vibrations. Some folks want a vibe that is straight-forward, easy to use, and they are willing to either sacrifice strong vibrations, or they’re looking to upgrade from their battery-operated devices to one that’s of quality and less bulky. I would also consider this to be a gender-neutral vibe. Something for everyone, really.
Final Thoughts
While the Sincerely Unity Vibe from Sportsheets didn’t meet my expectations in the vibrations department, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with its compact design, ease of use, and versatility. Despite my gripes with it, I enjoyed my experience with it and would recommend it to those who are not in the market for super-duper strong vibrations. We need more toys like these on the market that offer a plethora of options when it comes to versatility in one item, and the Sincerely Unity Vibe is one that I can feel comfortable standing by.
