The Crave Vesper has been out for some time now and I always wanted to get my hands on it. Not because it looks pretty and can be worn as jewelry, though that is a pretty cool and unique feature for a vibrator to have, but I wanted to see just how good it is at its other main function as, you know, a vibrator.
Design and Materials
The Crave Vesper is a wearable vibrator shaped like a flathead screw with a round pointed tip. It is made of stainless steel, is rechargeable, splash-proof, one-button operated, and has 3 vibration intensity settings and a pulsation setting.
In Use
A vibrator that is splash-proof essentially means that it cannot be submerged in water or sit in a body of water for a prolonged period of time. I’m a little annoyed that a vibrator of this kind wasn’t made to be completely waterproof because it definitely has the potential to be just based off the specs. I also think it would make a great bath time toy for those looking for a discrete vibrator since it looks like a necklace. Speaking of discrete, I’m a fan of sex toys that look inconspicuous because not everyone lives alone and some people just prefer their sex toys to not look like sex toys. The fact that once you press the button on the Vesper kinda makes it a dead give a way that it’s a sex toy because I can’t necessarily find another reason why a necklace would vibrate, but you can’t really see the button right away so if there’s a worry about discreetness, you should be in the clear. I also wouldn’t recommend it for bullet-compatible sex toys, those dildos that allow for a bullet to be placed in the base or cavity, as it is too small to fit.
Now let’s talk about the aesthetics. As advertised, the Vesper is a vibrating necklace. It’s revolutionary in my opinion and one of a kind. I haven’t seen any other vibrators like it, so it’s pretty much in its own category all by itself as a sex toy that doubles as a piece of jewelry. At a starting price of 70 bucks, it’s what I consider to be fairly priced since it’s multi-functional. I’ll stop with the rephrasing and repeats here, I promise. I got mine in the rose gold color because I don’t often see that color choice in sex toys and thought the accent of color mixed with the silver looks oh so sexy. It indeed does. I do wish that there was an option for a longer chain, but I digress.
I also don’t know if I would call the Vesper travel-friendly, as it does not have a travel lock and buzzes to life as soon as you press the button. I was looking up some more information on the manufacturer’s website and saw that it is also meant to be used for playtime in public. I’m not saying you can’t take this thing out in public and have fun with it, you are autonomous beings and therefore can do whatever you want, but keep in mind that it will turn on as soon as you press the button and it’s even though it’s fairly quiet, it’s not “whisper quiet”. Some will ask “Where’s that buzzing noise coming from?” or “Is someone’s phone ringing?”
The vibrations on the Vesper are much stronger than I anticipated. I feel as though vibrators that are of this particular size, this one being the smallest I have ever encountered thus far, usually have small motors and with small motors, come weak vibrations. This is not the case here. While the Vesper does have a fair amount of buzzieness to it, it still delievers decently strong vibrations and I don’t know if transmit is the right word? But the vibrations carry over well when in use. The vibrations can be felt throughout the whole vibe, so the same strength of vibration that you feel in the tip, you also feel in the top portion as well. The Vesper also gets pretty warm during use. It warms up to the body but can sometimes feel hotter than your actual body heat when running for an extended period of time, but that is to be expected since it does tell you that it will heat up when in use. I do however, love the coldness of the stainless steel when I initially touch it to my skin.
When it came to clitoral stimulation, the Vesper preformed well. The vibrations reach deep even on the lowest setting. While the vibrations do feel great for a vibrator of this size, they don’t get me off. I don’t want to give you whole spiel about me having a clit of steel, but I do find that I need something a little more powerful to finish with. I naturally like powerful vibrations, so anyone looking for a decently powerful vibrator, should get off nicely with this one. I’m sure a Vesper 2 with a larger body and motor could fix that though. If you’re like me and looking at the chain and wondering to yourself whether or not it will work without it, you can unscrew the chain and cap from the Vesper and use it without it being on. Just keep the cap and chain close so you don’t lose it.
Other Ways You Can Use The Vesper
Additionally, I thought about a couple other ways the Vesper could be used besides clitoral stimulation. I personally like using it on my nipples and while I didn’t get the chance to, I look forward to trying it out on a partner with a penis to use the head, the frenulum shaft, and balls as I like to call them. I’ve taken an interest in playing around with vibrations and penises, as I found that more and more in my personal experience, some of my partners seem to like vibrations when introduced. This would also be great for other erogenous zones as well, especially with blindfold for some sensation deprivation to heighten the senses.
Final Thoughts
I feel like when the marketing for the Crave Vesper came out, it was more so advertised as a sexy accessory that also vibrates. As a sex toy reviewer, I care about the vibrations first and the style aspect last, but in this case I had to consider both at the same time because the style aspect also played into the aspect of functionality. So when it comes down to the bottom line on whether or not I think the Crave Vesper is worth your money, I think it is. Whether you’re looking for a piece of jewelry to add to your collection or a new vibrator, I say get this one and kill two birds with one stone.
