“The added feature of controlling your sex toys with your phone is a feature that I think is being over-utilized in the industry. As it relates to the We-Vibe Gala, I personally don’t think this is a sex toy that needed this kind of technology. The main reason being the shape. It’s meant to be held in the hand the whole time you’re using it. Unless you get a couple fluffy pillows and position in the Gala in place underneath you or find some other way to get it to stay in contact with your body without having to touch it, it doesn’t make sense to have such a feature on this type of toy. Now, if it was a wearable device or a bullet vibe I could place on my clit and close my legs around to stay in place, this would a different story. As for that remote controlled bullet, do that We-Vibe. Do that.”
I think it’s safe to say that someone at We-Vibe read my review on the We-Vibe Gala and gave us the We-Vibe Moxie. You know what? I take that back because I said that with way too much confidence and that probably wasn’t the case. Nonetheless, this was a long time coming and quite frankly, it shoulda been came on the scene way before the We-Vibe series of couple’s vibrators in my opinion. I haven’t seen anyone make a panty vibe/wearable vibe that caught my attention and when the We-Vibe Moxie came out, I wasn’t impressed. It piqued my interest, but I wasn’t wowed right away. And that’s okay because not all things are supposed to wow us as soon as we see them. Sometimes it’s better to expect less than more.
When I think about a wearable panty vibe, I can’t help but think about those obnoxious videos with men using a remote to randomly activate a vibrator hidden in their girlfriend’s panties in public to get a rouse out of her. I get the concept, but I’m not one for using a vibrator in public. The idea of a remote-controlled vibrator gives me ideas of hands-free orgasms. And the fact that the We-Vibe Moxie is meant to be placed, positioned, and then held in place by a magnetic clip sounded like an opportunity I could not miss out on.
Design and Materials
The We-Vibe Moxie is a wearable vibrator that is designed to be worn in the panties, underwear, lingerie, or however you want to say it to deliver hands-free clitoral and broad stimulation. It is waterproof, made of body-safe silicone, rechargeable via a magnetic connection, has 10 vibration modes, comes with a remote, storage bag, and two magnetic clips (you get an extra clip in case you misplace one) that attach itself to the Moxie to hold it in place during use. And I suggest you keep a close eye on them because they are quite the pretty penny to replace if you misplace them.
The We-Connect App
While the We-Connect App is a part of the We-Vibe Moxie review, I personally consider the app to be an entirely separate entity on its own because it’s a piece of technology that is added to the large majority of We-Vibe’s line of sex toys, even if they don’t need it, as an added feature or enhancement. As I stated in my Gala review however, I think this type of technology is squandered and over-utilized on sex toys that just aren’t practical for being used hands-free. I understand that some may find the accessibility of an app-controlled sex toy to be ideal for those who may not be able to hold a sex toy for long periods of time or at all for that matter.
But when a sex toy is marketed as a hands-free device or even includes such features on a model/design that is not “Hands-free friendly”, it gives false hope to someone who may have bought the toy hoping for a true experience to only find that they have to hold the toy in order to use it. Like the We-Vibe Gala for example. That was my last dig at the Gala. Scouts honor.
With all that said, the We-Connect app has got to be one of the best sex toy apps ever made. It’s extremely easy to use, easy to pair your sex toy with your phone, and also easy to re-connect your sex toy after disconnecting it when your done playing with it. The app and device connection it has with each toy actually puts many of my other Bluetooth enabled devices to shame with how easy it is to connect with the app and the range you get with it is quite generous and consistent as long as you’re within range.
I also like that the app has a battery indicator which tells you what percent the We-Vibe Moxie is on so you know when you need to charge it. I personally like the feature because it lets me avoid my toy dying prematurely while using it. And because the app is so good, I barely use the remote control that’s included with the Moxie. That is how much I love using the app. Companies making app-controlled sex toys, please take note when it comes to the We-Connect App.
The “Wear-ability” of Said “Wearable Vibrations”
I decided to replace my regular “In Use” section with the above title because I know that one thing is certain: The vibrations are straight fire. If We-Vibe is good at anything, they are great at vibrations. I don’t know what the We-Vibe Gala was on, but the We-Vibe Moxie makes up for it nine-fold. Not tenfold, but we’ll talk about why a little later on. The We-Moxie comes in one color, and that color is Aqua. I promise when I typed the word “Aqua”, I didn’t accidentally type “Aquakink” twice and have to correct it. Nonetheless, the sole color option is pretty and because I love all things aqua-colored, it’s no surprise that I love it.
I would personally describe the vibrations as rumbly with a purpose. They have goals. They’re going somewhere in life. More importantly, they make me orgasm. Rumbly and powerful vibration are ideal for wearable devices because I’ve tested panty vibes in the past and the reason why they didn’t impress me was because they had buzzy vibrations that did absolutely nothing for me and it constantly made me wonder how in the hell was it doing anything for anyone else who tried them?
One, in particular, was a bullet vibe that came with a remote. I couldn’t really place and position them in my panties, so they pretty much moved around until it made its way onto my labia and nowhere near my clit. I also found that some panty vibes like this can fall out if you’re wearing a dress or not wearing any type of re-enforcement like a pair of shorts or some pantyhose to hold it in place and close to the body. That’s where the magnetic clips come into play for the Moxie. The magnetic connection is strong and once you place and position the vibe exactly where you want it, you good to go.
Something to note, however, is that if you’re placing the Moxie and the magnetic plate and material that this thicker than your typical cotton panty, you might have some issues with keeping it in place. It might stay, but it will easily disconnect if the material you’re sandwiching the plate and the Moxie between is too thick. Also, jostling around more than the normal rubbing of fabric when walking can also cause the magnet to disconnect from the Moxie. Sometimes I wish the magnetic plate extended across the full length of the Moxie because I think it would help with reducing the likelihood of disconnection.
I should say that the Moxie can be positioned in either direction depending on what type of stimulation you’re in the mood for. There’s no wrong way to place it when putting it into your underwear, but I would suggest testing out how you positioned it prior to taking it out on the town to make sure you’re comfortable. The last thing you want is to have your Moxie in place and be outside in public in a place where you might not be able to adjust it just to realize that it feels uncomfortable or is mashing against your clit when you sit down.
Aside from its intended function as a wearable vibe, the We-Vibe Moxie’s one-button function made me think about using it as a bullet vibe since it’s the same size as most traditional bullet style vibes on the market and the raised nub on the underside of it would be ideal for pin-point clitoral stimulation. The best part is that you can position it exactly where you want it and use it with the included remote, the app, or use the button on it to operate it independently. We already know which option I went for. The app of course.
I place it where I want it, turn it on, pair it with the app, and I’m good to go. I also like that I don’t have to pair it before placing it. I can place, turn it on, and then as soon as I open the app, it’s paired. The ease of use with the app combined with the versatility of the We-Vibe Moxie has earned itself a spot on my best sex toys of 2019 list for sure. While wearable vibrators are not a new concept, We-Vibe’s take on it is certainly of the most unique I have seen in the market.
Final Thoughts
The We-Vibe Moxie more than exceeded my expectations for a wearable vibrator. Granted I didn’t use it the way it was intended to be used but the possibilities are really endless with a sex toy you can wear, control with your smartphone, and has super powerful vibrations. If you’re someone looking to get the We-Vibe Moxie as a gift, I don’t think you can go wrong with it. If you’re looking to get it as a toy for solo-play, I highly recommend it.
