Anal August Roundup

Y’all didn’t think I was gonna let the whole of august just fly by and not talk about anal toys, right?

Did you know that August is the month of Anal Pleasure? Whether you’re new to the world of anal play or a seasoned veteran, we’re always looking for new and exciting ways to enhance our sexual experiences or create new ones altogether. During this month in particular, my ass has been crazy busy testing out all types of butt toys and lubes in search of finding some new favorites. Rather than roll them out one by one, I thought it would be better to talk about them all in one post as a roundup of sorts. So let’s get started.

The Plugs and Beads

During Anal August, I tried a lot of butt toys. I wanted to share the experience I had with them with you in hopes that it will arm you with some enlighten and education that will hopefully help you when you make your next anal toy purchase. Of course, everybody is different and what I may like, you may not like and vice versa. The bigger goal here is to show you that butt stuff isn’t scary and that there is so much fun to be had and so much pleasure do discover when diving into the world of anal play.

Mojis ILY Mini Silicone Plug

Design and Materials: The Moji’s ILY Silicone Butt Plug by NS Novelties is made of silicone and the emoji in the base is made of ABS plastic. It has a tapered tip for easy insertion and slightly widens in the middle, then tappers back into the base. It is compatible with all types of lubricants including silicone.

Review: When I first looked at the Mojis ILY Mini Silicone Plug, I immediately thought to myself “Ah. This is what those labels mean when they say ‘For novelty use only.’” It’s ridiculously cute but also functional as a beginners butt plug and a butt plug in general. It’s the size of a pinky and quite flexible all throughout. It has some squish to it while remaining firm for the most part. If your someone looking for a cute butt plug that kinda looks like a gag gift, I would suggest picking this one up. I don’t really have any cons here but if I had to find one, it would be that I wouldn’t suggest boiling this plug to sanitize it, as it can ruin the base by potentially causing the Emoji to crack. The price is also pretty cool at 11 bucks and is available in two additional designs.

B-Vibe Snug Plug 1

Design and Materials: The B-Vibe Snug Plug one is 1 of 4 in a series of weighted butt plugs designed to give your booty some added sensation and stimulation while giving you comfort as the flared bases on these plugs are quite small. They are all made of silicone with a weighted ball inside each one of them to give you a feeling of fullness.

Review: When I chose the B-Vibe Snug Plug 1, I wanted to see if I would be able to call this a beginner/intermediate plug based on its size primarily, and the weight of the ball second. The construction and overall quality of this plug is impressive. The silicone is soft and silky and there is a seam that runs along either side of the plug, but you can barely see or feel it.  Its torpedo shape, as B-Vibe calls it, does make insertion a breeze as it has a rounded tapered tip and I will say that this has to be one of the most comfortable plugs I have ever worn. I know I’m getting ahead of myself because we haven’t talked about the weight aspect. So, let’s dial it back and talk about why I think the Snug Plug 1 is a beginner-friendly toy. While this plug isn’t really squishy, I find that works with the body when in use because of that long neck. It just moves with you. Well me, since I’m the one wearing it but you get you my drift. The base not only does its job, but it also sits perfectly between the cheeks. In fact, I still use and wear this plug for extended periods of time and had no need to seek relief from it.

Though I normally don’t recommend weighted butt plugs for those new to anal play, I found this one to be very light and therefore, quite underwhelming for me and that’s my fault. Since I am more experienced with anal toys, I should have gotten a larger Snug Plug. I didn’t experience the sensation of resistance if you will, that comes with using a weighted plug that I was looking for. If I had to compare the weight of this plug to something, I would say it’s as heavy as a Staples brand mini stapler. I did get some feelings of fullness and I can’t say enough about how damn comfortable this plug was. I’m begging you, get yourself one. Your ass is gonna love it.

Avant Pride P6 Beyond

Design and Materials: The Avant series of sex toys are made with platinum cured silicone, and are uniquely handcrafted in small batches, making them extra special. It has a tapered tip for easy insertion and a flared base, as all anal plugs and toys should have to prevent further travel. This particular plug is designed with the colors of the Gender Queer pride flag. Almost forgot to mention that it comes with a 5 years warranty which is not something you don’t always see

Review: If you’re new to using anal toys or have never engaged in anal sex, the Avant Pride P6 Beyond butt plug is what I would personally call an intermediate plug, as the tapered tip is more so the size of a pinky and the rest of the plug widens to a finger in girth. The silicone is squishy and flexible but this was still a decent sized plug for me and the squishiness of the silicone works with your body when using it. It doesn’t push back on you in the way that a firmer silicone would. I found that this plug gave me a lot of fullness and pleasant stretching sensation. Once I got comfortable with it, I started popping it and out of my booty just for the hell of it.

The biggest drawback about this plug is that I wish the neck of it was a little longer and skinnier, as it can sometimes pop out of my booty because the neck is a little too thick. Also the base is a little chunky and block-like. Which is great if you want to set it down somewhere and sit on it, but for some, wearing it might be a little annoying. It really depends if you like the bases of your butt plugs to be thin or thick. Because this plug is made with silicone, you can sanitize it anyway you want. You can boil it, wash with soap and water, add a capful of bleach to some water and let it soak, though I am not sure what that will do the color, but I’m sure it will be fine. I believe you can also throw it into the dishwasher. On second thought, I wouldn’t suggest that last part if you don’t live alone. People tend to not like other people’s plugs occupying the same space as their dishes and eating utensils.

Luxe Silicone Beads

Design and Materials: The Luxe Silicone Beads are very bendy and made completely out of silicone. They feature these oval circles which follows a diamond shape per every two circles, increasing in size the further up you go. It starts with a diamond which has a rounded tip for insertion. If that all doesn’t make any sense, look at the pictures. I don’t really know if I would say that it has a tapered tip since the first diamond is so small so insertion is a non-factor for me but I won’t assume that for everyone else. Point is, the first diamond is very tiny.

Review: I was totally geeked over trying these because it was my very first time trying anal beads. I like the matte silicone that the Luxe Silicone Beads are made with. I hate however, that it attracts every single piece of lint, dust, and dog hair possible. I know hate is strong word. I’ll spare you the visuals because it doesn’t look very aesthetically pleasing. So shout out to me for getting some good shots of these beads. These beads not something you just put down after washing them. And I always rinse it before use.

The biggest thing I like about these since it’s my first time using anal beads is that there really small. There 9.7 inches in total length, but not wide. If I had to give it a size comparison, I would say that they start out the size of a pinky and graduate to the size of a thumb. Insertion was a breeze and I like how bendy and flexible it is. Because it’s completely made of silicone, you can clean it any way you please.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Luxe Silicone Beads because while I love them, love putting them in my butt, pulling them slowly out my butt, or really fast, or even thrusting them back and forth in my butt. Butt [See what I did there?] the diamond shape part after the first one, doesn’t feel very comfortable. Especially when inserting and pulling them out slowly. It’s like the edges or corners if you will, don’t agree with my booty. Even with the thickest lube I had. I wouldn’t say it hurts, it just doesn’t feel that great. With that being said, I can’t completely hate on it as its price and quality is reason all by itself to give it a try. As it’s under 20 bucks. That’s right, 20 bucks.

Rianne S Booty Plug Luxury Set 2x

Design and Materials: The Rianne S Booty Plug Luxury Set 2x are made of gold-plated medical grade steel, though I wonder why it’s not stainless. Isn’t all steel stainless? This particular set comes with a small and medium plug. They can be used to explore different sensations such as the sensation of weight and temperature play by placing them in the freezer or putting them in warm water while still providing a feeling of fullness. It has a tapered tip for easy insertion and comfort. Has a bulbous shape, long neck, and a gem in the base of each plug.

Review: Though it is advertised as a trainer kit, I wouldn’t necessarily say that the Rianne S Booty Plug Luxury Set 2x is for beginners based off of my personal checklist for a beginner-friendly plug, which I should probably get around to writing sometime soon if I’m going to be referring to it. In essence, when I think about butt plugs that I would personally recommend to someone, it’s usually a light and flexible material, like silicone. I always recommend silicone for a starter plug. Something this weighted being used as a beginner’s plug may be too intense. It also doesn’t have traditional tapered tip and is rather bulbous in shape.

With all that being said, in hopes of saving myself from sounding like I just said a whole lot of nothing, the small plug offers a nice transition to the medium plug as it is slimmer and slightly more narrow in the tip than the medium plug. Both plugs give me a varying sensation of fullness and resistance, obviously the medium plug gives me more sensations of fullness and resistance than the medium plug but I equally enjoy them both.  When using plugs like these, where there more bulbous in shape than a traditional butt plug and features a long neck, I find that after I insert the plug completely, I get a pop then a drop in the booty. And what I mean by that is there’s no transition from the plug itself into the base, meaning the plug doesn’t taper back into the neck the way I traditional looking plug would. So you get a pop then a drop. The Rianne S Booty Plug Luxury Set is curved at the bottom of each plug which makes pulling them out of my ass feel really nice. The only thing I wish these plugs could have is longer necks but I’m being greedy. The price of these are pretty good at 60 bucks and if you take care of them, they’ll last you a pretty long time.

Ass for temperature play, I personally don’t like my sex toys to be heated as I find they normally warm up when in contact with my body naturally. But the best part about stainless steel is that it can hold temperatures for longer periods of time then other sex toy materials. I enjoyed dipping the plugs into cool water or letting them hang out in the freezer before inserting them into my ass. And with the many heatwaves we’ve been having in New York, we can always use a unique way to cool down. As far as cleaning goes, you can clean them anyways you want but I don’t recommend boiling or washing them in a dishwasher as the extreme heat can destroy the gem in the base of each plug. While I’m at it, don’t put them in boiling hot water to change the temperature either.

Final Thoughts

Though Anal August is a month-long celebration, anal-play can be an activity you engage year-round and as often as you like. I had a great time testing out these toys and I got to learn more about my body which I think is a goal everyone should strive towards when getting intimate. Butt, always remember to use consent and have fun.
