When I first laid my eyes on the FemmeFunn Bougie Bullet, I thought to myself “I don’t need it. I definitely don’t need it…..I NEEEED IT!” Who the hell was I kidding? I love and mean LOVE bullet-style vibes. I love discovering new ones and more importantly, finding new favorites. So you know when I saw this one, I had to try it. For FemmeFunn to call their latest bullet “Bougie” I had to find out why. I mean sure it looks luxurious, but does it really have what it takes to get up there with my faves? Inquiring minds, and by minds, I mean myself, wanted to know.
Design and Materials
The FemmeFunn Bougie Bullet is as it says in the name, a bullet vibe. It’s made of anodized aluminum and silicone, is completely waterproof, has 20 vibration modes, a special boost button, and comes with a magnetic charging case that also doubles as a storage case. The Bougie Bullet features a cylinder shape with a rounded tip that tappers in the middle and flares back out into the base. With that being said, it cannot be used as a butt plug as it is not anal safe.
The magnetic charging case corresponds with the color of the bullet you choose, which is available in two colors: Rose gold and sky blue. The shape of the case to me looks like a big pill to me. It most certainly is not small because the bullet isn’t small but makes carrying the Bougie Bullet around more convenient. Since there is no travel lock on the Bougie Bullet, the case prevents the bullet from accidentally or unintentionally turning on unexpectedly during travel.
The Aesthetics, the Bells, and the Whistles
I know what you thinking because I’m thinking it to: Can the FemmeFunn Bougie Bullet really make me feel like the baddest bitch in the game? To answer this question, we must take several things into consideration: Does the Bougie Bullet fit the part aesthetically? Is its features just as luxurious as advertised? What about its extra amenity, the magnetic charging case? And lastly, is it more powerful than you average bullet?
Aesthetically, the Bougie Bullet satisfies me. The packaging itself is very compact and simple. I personally don’t care for bells and whistles if it doesn’t benefit the main attraction. And by bells and whistles in this case, I mean the extra fluff packing that sex toys can come with. I for one have never seen a bullet made of aluminum. Its shiny, it’s pretty, but one thing it is not, is light. I say this because FemmeFun advertises this bullet as being “Feather light”, yet it does not feel this way in the hand. Which confuses me since aluminum is supposed to be a light material. I have a butt plug that I like very much that is made of aluminum, and it is way lighter than this bullet. I have however taken into consideration that there is a motor, one that must be fairly large, that contributes to its heftiness. Advertising this as a light weight sex toy however, in my personal opinion is out of the question. I’ll touch some more on the aluminum part later.
As for the magnetic case being an addition to the bells and whistles, I have to say that it takes the cake as being the best included storage bag/pouch/case I have ever had come with a sex toy. The best. At a price point of $100, I have to say that you’re getting your money’s worth in packaging and materials alone. For starters, there aren’t a ton of ways to discreetly charge a bullet for those who want the option to do so. FemmeFunn does a great job in giving you two ways to charge the Bougie Bullet.
You can connect the Usb magnetic charger directly to the bullet, which does have a solid connection even when moving the bullet around. Then you can connect the same charger to the case itself with the bullet inside the case, properly lined up to the two prongs in in the case of course for discrete charging. If you are someone who is constantly on the go and need to charge your bullet when you’re out and about, this is a great idea. Or if you’re someone who doesn’t live alone and want to charge your toys free from prying eyes, then this is purely genius.
In Use
Back to that aluminum. Personally, it’s one of my favorite sex toy materials because it’s light and great for playing around with temperature play because it can hold whatever temperature you set it to a while. That’s done by placing it in hot or cold water, though I am not sure how that would work with a motorized sex toy. I guess no extreme temperatures and you should be fine. The only thing missing here is the “lightness” as I am assuming that the motor is what adds some heft to it. Not ridiculously heavy, it just has some noticeable weight to it. If you’re someone who enjoys some penetration with their vibrations, or a little bit of internal stimulation, I don’t see why you can’t do that with this bullet. It’s almost two finger in width and quite long enough for internal stimulation. Not my thing personally but it’s something I like to enthuse about or point out when I notice a bullet can be used for such things.
As for the functionality of the bullet in terms of the buttons and vibration patterns, I like how the buttons are placed and that you get two of them. You get a boost button which is supposed to set the bullet into a supercharged mode on a consistent intensity. I’m guessing you would use such a thing when you’re close to orgasm and want to intensify your orgasm by using the bullet on full blast. It’s a great feature that I do enjoy using. However, several things annoy me with the FemmeFunn Bougie Bullet that I have experienced with a previous model of theirs.
You get three levels of intensities and the rest are patterns. Why? This bullet was such a great opportunity to have at least five levels of intensity. Don’t get me wrong. The patterns are nice and the vibrations are ridiculously strong and rumbly, and I do find myself using the patterns from time to time when I want do some edging for a stronger orgasm but adding those extra levels of intensity would have set the FemmeFunn Bougie Bullet at number 2 on my list. It stands at number 3 for right now.
When I think about vibrators with big motors, I always think about three main things: Battery life, noise level, and power. The battery life on the Bougie Bullet is pretty darn good. Of course all of this depends on how long you use it and on what intensity/vibration mode, but I will say that I got a good amount of time out of it before I needed to charge it. Noise level is decent. You will certainly hear it in an open room but under some covers, the noise will be slightly muffled. Out of all three, the vibrations are the star of the show. Every vibration mode feels as though it’s on the highest intensity. The only thing about that is that you can’t adjust the intensity, so for some, the vibration level on the patterns might be too strong. A woman like myself with a clit of steel finds herself thoroughly enjoying the power.
There is also a feature in the FemmeFunn Bougie Bullet that allows it to remember the vibration mode that you were last on so you can resume to that mode when you turn the bullet back on. This feature is perfectly feasible for vibrators that have at max, 10 vibration modes. The Bougie Bullet has twenty. Cycling though twenty vibration modes with no way of being able to go back to a previous mode can be annoying. In this case, I wouldn’t want my vibe to remember my last mode and would rather start at the beginning. For some however, because there are so many vibration modes, if you find a mode you really like, then you won’t have to go back and find it all over again when you go back to use it. So when it comes to that, it’s a matter of preference.
Final Thoughts
Despite my small gripes with the FemmeFunn Bougie Bullet, I would say that this is one of the best bullet vibes ever created. The practicality aspect of this vibe combined with how powerful it is does it for me every time. The case also protects the Bougie Bullet from getting nicked or scratched during travel, which helps protect your investment. Do I in fact feel like a Bad Bitch? Yes, yes I do.
