Alright, back on my bullshit with another review.
So, we meet again, We-Vibe. While it seems like I take a lot of digs at one of the biggest innovators in the sex toy industry, I actually adore them. The We-Vibe Tango was the first bullet-vibe to set the foundation of which my sex toy interests stand on. That vibe helped me make smarter purchases when it came to choosing sex toys that worked for my body. The only time this company ruffles my feathers is when they put amazing technology into sex toys that quite frankly don’t need them. Putting app-controlled capabilities into non-wearable sex toys is a primary example because it makes that sex toy seem more accessible than it actually is. And I personally feel like We-Vibe is much too innovative for that. I can’t really say their jumping on the bandwagon because they were one of the first companies to even make this type of technology in the first place. And because they do it so well, that who’s really gonna check them?
So where does that bring us to now? The We-Vibe Ditto. As some of you may know, Anal August, the month where we celebrate and highlight all things anal-pleasure related, was last month. Admittedly, I did get my hands on it last year and was supposed to feature it in my Anal August Round-Up, but decided not to since there was already so many items in the lineup and I felt that it deserved a spot of its own as its own separate review. So here it is. We-Vibe’s first butt plug.
Materials and Design
The We-Vibe Ditto is a vibrating butt plug made of medical-grade silicone, is completely waterproof, rechargeable via magnetic connection/USB, can be controlled by an included remote or using your smartphone with the We-Connect App. Additionally, it has 10 patterns and 10 intensities, comes in two colors: Midnight Blue and Purple, and comes with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty from the original purchase date.
It is compatible with only water-based (and maybe oil-based) lubricants. Do not use silicone-based lubricants with this toy as it can ruin the materials and void the manufacturer’s warranty.
We-Connect App
Have we been here before? I feel like we’ve been here before. I’ve tried the We-Connect App a trillion times, and I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. It’s the best darn remote-controlled application I have ever tried. And I put that shit on everything! The connectivity is flawless, and it is ridiculously easy to use. But don’t take it from me, take it from past me who have tried the app with 2 other We-Vibe toys.
The app can be easily found and downloaded from the Google Play Store on your Android device or the App Store on your iPhone. With the app, you can control vibrations as well as let other people control your vibrations, be it, someone, you know like your partner or someone from anywhere in the world. You can also send a link to your partner who can download the app and control your sex toy from their phone without being near you. The connectivity options in terms of how accessible the app is like nothing I have ever experienced before.
The app is ridiculously easy to use as you are met with on-screen set up prompt/walk-through instructions as soon as you open the app after downloading it. It tells you to turn on your Bluetooth and your We-Vibe/app-enabled toy, and the app will pick up and automatically connect. From there you can see the battery power, so you know when it’s time to charge before it goes dead, view and control the vibration patterns and their intensities, create and store your own vibration patterns. I actually find myself using the app more than the included remote. It also gets some extra brownie points because if you lose the included remote, you can use the app, since you’re also more likely to misplace the remote before misplacing your phone.
In Use
The We-Vibe Ditto has a unique oval shape combined with a tapered tip for easy insertion with a gradual bump in the middle which then tappers into the base. In my personal opinion, this design isn’t really universal as it takes on a non-traditional shape than what most users are used to seeing on the market. Think about it for a second: Traditional-looking butt plugs are either shaped like a pinky or have a tapered tip with a bulbous middle that tappers into a cylindrical neck and into the base. The Ditto I would say, the insertable part of the plug is shaped like a thumb. The whole plug essentially looks like a sleeker-looking “Thumbs up” if you will, just without the rest of the knuckles. I know, I know, just move along with me.
The silicone is also quite unique. It’s soft, velvety smooth, and is oddly squishy. The silicone is similar to that of the We-Vibe Sync. It’s slightly cushiony like there’s some type of padding underneath. Regardless of that, I like it. There’s a slight seam along the side that you can feel if you run your finger on it but has no effect/feel when in use. The connection between the base and neck is flexible but don’t push it. While I don’t think there will be any connectivity issues in terms of consistency of vibrations in the insertable part, it’s always a risk with vibrators that have some type of connectivity in the base. That being said, I have had the We-Vibe Ditto for some time now and have had no issues whatsoever.
I personally found insertion to be a breeze, with plenty of lube, of course. There is less of a transition to the widest part because of the shape, but that is subjective of course. Once inserted, I did enjoy the stretching sensation it gave me, but the vibrations are where it shines the most. But we’ll talk about that later. I also found that because it’s quite light. The significant issue I have with this plug is the base. While it’s curved nicely to fit between the cheeks, it’s still quite pronounced and can feel awkward. I wish it were just a tad slimmer while maintaining the same shape.
Final Thoughts
While the We-Vibe Ditto isn’t my favorite butt plug, I have to say that We-Vibe did the damn thing with it. I would have liked for the insertable part of the plug to sit in the middle of the base rather than to the side of it, but I understand why that couldn’t be done due to its shape and possible connectivity as well. If you’re someone looking for a remote-controlled butt plug that provides a pleasant stretching sensation and you don’t mind the base, then I recommend that you check this one out.
