We-Vibe Gala Review

Get you a snack, girl. This is gonna be a long one. The We-Vibe Gala is a dual clitoral stimulator that features two motors in each tip. I wanted to get my hands on this toy because I was curious about its vibrations. The We-Vibe Tango was the first big clit toy purchase I had ever made after figuring out what type of toy and specific stimulation I liked, which gave me my first multiple orgasm. So I was so sure that a dual vibrator from We-Vibe wouldn’t disappoint me. Or so I thought…

Design and Materials

The We-Vibe Gala is made of silicone, is rechargeable, features two motors in each tip, has 10 vibration modes and intensities, is completely waterproof,  and can be controlled by your phone via the with the We-Connect app available in the Android Play Store and Apple app market.

I would best describe the shape of the Gala as a mouse, just longer with two bunny ears where the left and right click button would be. That’s what I thought of as soon as I held it for the first time. If your someone who likes when things just fit in the palm of your hand, you gonna love this. I’m also diggin’ the color. It’s a bright and vibrant pinkish-red that stands out brilliantly. I actually enjoyed taking pictures of it and would like to see this color utilized in the sex toy industry more often.

Function and Operation

We-Vibe Gala has a three button operation. When I first looked at the buttons in proportion to the rest of the toy. I said to myself “Why the fuck are these buttons so damn small?” I’m a lady with quite large, yet dainty hands. Pressing the buttons is not the issue here. I just want to know why there so small and so close together. There is so much space on this toy to spread those buttons out. You can easily press two buttons at the same time by mistake. For me, that never happened since I learned the order of the buttons and was mindful of that while using it.

I will say that it doesn’t really mean anything since when you feel the buttons, just running your fingers over them, you can’t tell them apart. I could feel the horizontal lines from the mode and minus button but they all felt the same, even the plus button of which I couldn’t really feel the vertical line of without running my hands over it sideways. Which makes sense.

What also annoys me is that both the mode and plus button turn the Gala on and only the minus button can turn it off. And it’s not like a 2 second hold-and-press. It cycles back down though the intensities before turning off. Why?

The Vibrations

A Carole King song comes to mind when I think about how I would describe the vibrations. There close yet still far away at the same time. The vibrations are rumbly with no sign of buzz in sight. And the though my clit sandwiched between those two bunny ears makes me all fuzzy inside. Instead I found even though the two motors in the ears where vibrating away, allot of the stronger vibrations could be felt in the lower half of the toy.

With my clit between the two ears of the Gala on the highest intensity, I found no pleasure. I will say that I have a clit of steel, just in case I haven’t told you that before. So I already know when it comes to vibrators, what may be considered powerful to many or some, may not do anything for me. But I could feel the power, I could feel it. It just wasn’t in those bunny ears. Without any intention of contradicting myself, the Gala does give good vibrations that are strong. They just didn’t feel focused enough in the right place.

We-Connect App

If you don’t know anything about me after reading my blog, which I hope doesn’t happen, I want you to know one thing about me. I am a huge and I mean YUUUGE technology enthusiast. I love all things tech and I am always looking for the next big thing in technology. In fact, I don’t make a selection on the next cellphone I should get before watching a ton of YouTube reviews and unboxings. I would love to one day work in the technology field creating new products people didn’t know they needed until they saw them. And I am somewhat ok with the idea that out world as we know it is slowly becoming completely automated. I’m actually not okay with that last part, but you get my point.

The added feature of controlling your sex toys with your phone is a feature that I think is being over-utilized in the industry. As it relates to the We-Vibe Gala, I personally don’t think this is a sex toy that needed this kind of technology. The main reason being the shape. It’s meant to be held in the hand the whole time you’re using it. Unless you get a couple fluffy pillows and position in the Gala in place underneath you or find some other way to get it to stay in contact with your body without having to touch it, it doesn’t make sense to have such a feature on this type of toy. Now, if it was a wearable device or a bullet vibe I could place on my clit and close my legs around to stay in place, this would a different story. As for that remote controlled bullet, do that We-Vibe. Do that.

My review of the app is based on two things: Accessibility (how easy it to find) and ease of use (can a common idiot use it, do you have to be a tech expert?). I have an android. Specifically a Samsung Galaxy note 8. As soon as I typed in “We C-“, the We-Connect app showed up in my predictions in the search bar. I clicked the prediction and downloaded the app. No problem, straight-forward process.

Now, I could tell you that my experience using the We-Connect App was good and leave it at that. Instead, I’ll just give you the whole shebang. In order to pair the Gala or only We-Connect compatible We-Vibe device, Bluetooth must be turned on. The App will ask your permission to turn it on and depending on your device, the app will turn Bluetooth on for you or you will be asked to manually turn it on yourself in which you have to go to your connection setting and activate Bluetooth.

After that, the We-Connect app will attempt to find your device to pair it. I will say that I love this feature as I didn’t have to press any buttons on the Gala to pair it to my phone. As long as the Gala was on, it found and paired the device almost immediately. While I’m not new to this and would proudly call myself a power-user of technology, if you’re someone who is a lament user, meaning you are not tech-savvy in any way, this app is ridiculously easy to use. The device will automatically disconnect from your phone after some time of inactivity.

In the app, you can control your toy or give someone else access to control the toy remotely from where they are. The controls are customized differently for each toy but because the app disables the screenshot feature, I can’t show you what I mean.

The control screen for the We-Vibe Gala allows you to control the speeds and settings of each bunny ear independently of each other. So the left ear can be on a higher setting that the right ear and vice versa. Why someone would want that on a toy like this, I don’t know. I didn’t use the app and the toy at the same time as I didn’t find it functional or feasible. Don’t get me wrong. I like the app, just not with this toy. The Gala is not a wearable device and therefore this type of technology is not needed.

Final Thoughts

With all that being said, the We-Vibe Gala was definitely an interesting experience. I was a bit disappointed with vibrations not being more focused into the bunny ears as it was my main issue and the added features from the We-Connect app was wasted on this toy as it once again is not a wearable device. We-Vibe makes a plethora of other great toys. This one just wasn’t one of them.

Please Note: At this time, We-Vibe has discontinued the We-Vibe Gala and it is no longer available for purchase at the Pleasurechest.com. In place of that, I would suggest you pick up a We-Vibe Tango or the We-Vibe Touch (Review coming soon).

A huge thank you to the folks at The Pleasure Chest for sending me the We-Vibe Gala in exchange for an honest review.
